Pre-class quizzes (24%): There are 10 pre-class quizzes to complete in order to engage more with course content. Your two lowest marks will be dropped so you can miss two with no penalty.
Article discussions (18%): We will discuss five different research articles in this course. For three of them, you will submit responses to some guided reading questions. Then using your prepared responses, you will present the paper to peers through a structured class discussion.
Midterms (25%): There will be two midterms in this course, worth 10% and 15%. Details on exam format will be provided prior to the first exam. These exams will cover information presented in class AND in the assigned text/readings and videos. All exam dates are indicated on the course calendar. These are open book take-home exams that are due by the start of class on Tuesdays and will be released after class on the preceding Thursday.
Final exam & presentation (33%): This final assessment in this course will include a written take-home exam and an in-person presentation. The final exam will be weighted 10% and the presentation will be weighted 10%. The remaining 13% grade weighting will be assigned by you in advance to the final or the presentation (or split across both). Option to skip the final - If you are happy with your midterm exam average, you can skip the final and use your midterm grades to count for your final (for up to 15% of your overall course grade).
